1. Put Your Audience, Rather Than Revenue, First

Are you on the right YouTube path?  If your goal is to build, inspire, and educate a community of 1,000 or more people, we'd say you are.

 We have uploaded over 600 videos to the vidIQ YouTube channel, and we have over 2 million comments.  We haven't read them all, but from what we've seen, it's clear that most creators don't understand the YouTube platform.

 New creators are thinking about what they can get from YouTube rather than what they can offer their audience.  But we've always advised people to stop thinking about metrics like views, subscribers, and watch time - at least at first.  Focus only on what is valuable to your audience.

 I can almost guarantee that when you remove your mindset from your audience, your channel will grow very fast.  Before you even know it, you will reach 1,000 customers.

 That's because your content, your daily interactions with your community, becomes far more important than any milestone you achieve.

2. Define Your Value Proposition on YouTube

What is a value proposition?  Simply put, this is when you describe your channel in an engaging, memorable fashion in five seconds or less.  For example, our value proposition could be that we are a "YouTube growth channel".  But we can actually say “educating your YouTube journey,” which is more personal and speaks directly to our audience.

3. Break Your 1,000-Subscriber Goal Into Smaller Goals: 100, 250, 500, and So On...
